The Anzacs

I saw an amazing thing the other day - I was at Mildura to see Adam Brand and the Sunny Cowgirls as his support
Having a wonderful night surrounded by outback fellas in town for a playtime etc - The girls were so much fun and Adam terrific
But, when Adam Brand came back on stage for his encore, he played 3 songs - one being "The Anzacs"
Being a country venue there was only a small crowd of probably 350-500 tops and he got em all to shut up and stand "for the man we call the Anzac - for all our service personal and to think of those in action today"
The crowd did and the man himself was surprised that he could do that or with our thanks later that night.
Discussing it later with him, we mention John Schumanns "only 19" as being the veteran song but now we acknowledge that "The Anzac" shall supercede this
The Anzac tradition and spirit is Australia - check it out if you are interested in Aussie behaviour at all - the living generations are still carrying the story and the honour.

The vines may look lush but they grow in desert sand and we're along the Murray River. It's bush fire smoke and haze making the shot look good.
Please Folks, Follow the Bushfire Restrictions even if its coming into winter - There is no rain - Follow good water consumption habits too, even u city folk! If we don't watch out, then the resevoirs and dams wont fill and even the cities miss out on their daily wash. Costs will go up as water becomes expensive and companies look overseas for produce

Buy Australia but consider the costs overall - If it's rice and such, that should be something we import not make in Australia - dont buy it/write a letter of concern to the company/ombudsman/anyone. Agriculture in some Aussie districts should be reviewed - check out how much is now going to cotton and rice in Griffith/Hay regions. I swear within 10 yrs time the Hay Plains will look completely different.

Charles Wooley in outback Australia	Drought, we once thought, was a farmer's problem, stalking the land out there beyond our horizons. But this time it's come to town. It's sucked the reservoirs of many of our major cities to record low levels. It's confounded our farmers and even raised questions about whether, in some places, we should abandon agriculture. It's made us think again in both town and country about how we live in Australia. And as you'll see in this story, it's a problem so serious it's even reopened the nuclear debate. Silverton Cemetry

When this cemetry was laid out, it was supposed to have the graves all in a row - they're not! Most of the miners of Silverton were poor camping along the riverbeds nearby and with a lack of sanitary arrangements, many died.
The local gravedigger provided all that was needed for the grand sum of a flask of port or rum. Hence the crooked rows

It goes for miles and miles passed the Umberumberra Weir (which was dry as this trip) and the Mungo Mungo ranges

Silverton Hotel

This place is a must for overseas and Aussie travellers alike. The hotel has so many photos displayed inside of all the commercials and movies that it's been in. Many pics of our favourite stars and of the locals who played the extras.
Nice atmosphere with great people willing to tell ya all

Travelling australia by truck is an experience - you're dirty, tired, wired and had enough coffee to supply an office.
But I get to see Australia at its best - the sunrise across the Hay Plains stirring the birdlife into action, or the lights of cities at night - the dust cloud of herded cattle and the wild brumbies of the Snowy's - And the many different people eager to tell you a yarn and drink to your health

Once I've worked out moblogging, I shall try to share my travels and interests.
